Published: 2010-05-21

Four members of the Columbus Weightlifting Club have qualified for the U.S. National Championships to be held June 11-13 in Peoria, Ill.

The National Championships are expected to draw more than 150 athletes and will be one of the first key steps for athletes on the road to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The four lifters are Tony Blanksteen (105+kg), Bob Davis (105kg), Drew Dillon (85kg) and Jami Benjamin (53kg).

“This will be Bob, Drew and Jami's first Nationals and I am looking forward to all of them attempting personal records during the competition,” said Mark Cannella, who coaches all of the qualifiers. Canella also help coordinate the Arnold Weightlifting Championships held each year at the Arnold Sports Feastival.

Columbus Weightlifting Club, Inc., is a non-profit club with a weightlifting program at the YMCA North Branch in Columbus, Ohio, and is dedicated to the sport of Olympic Weightlifting. For more information, visit www.columbusweightlifting.org
