Amateur MMA Festival

The Arnold Sports Festival – the largest multi-sport festival in the nation -- is sponsoring an amateur mixed martial arts series that will culminate at the 2011 Arnold Sports Festival.

Future fight dates at the LC Pavilion in downtown Columbus include Friday, Aug. 6; Saturday, Sept. 4; Saturday, Oct. 16; Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. Fighters earn points throughout the season to earn the right to fight at the Amateur MMA Festival held on Friday, March 4, 2011 in conjunction with the 2011 Arnold Sports Festival.

The March 4, 2011 card will feature up to 20 bouts of high-level amateur mixed martial arts competition.

Columbus-based mixed martial arts promoter Troy Speakman and Bob Lorimer of the Arnold Sports Festival co-promote the series that attracts top amateur fighters from throughout the Midwest. The Amateur MMA Festival fight cards are sanctioned by the Ohio Boxing Commission.

“The Arnold Sports Festival is proud to produce a series of top-level amateur mixed martial arts fights throughout the year that will culminate with the best of the best competing at the 2011 Arnold Sports Festival,” Lorimer said. “The first-ever Amateur MMA Festival in March 2010 was a tremendous success and we look forward to producing an even better event in 2011.”

Doors open to the Amateur MMA Festival on Friday, March 4 at 7 p.m., with the first bout to start at 8 p.m.
