The 2nd Annual Arnold Sports Film Festival uses personal athletic endeavor as the underlying theme of the amateur and professional competition. Told in narrative, documentary, experimental and animated films 15 minutes in length and under, amateurs and professionals explore the lives and efforts, inspirations and hopes of people striving for achievement in individual athletic pursuits.

Film Festival attendees will walk the red carpet at the Arena Grand Movie Theater March 2-4 while enjoying a décor tracing sports through history.

“We’ve encouraged both traditional and alternative stories and storytelling, wedding creativity and excellence in cinema with the drama of athletes determined to be the very best,” said Jim Hern, event director.

The Arnold Sports Film Festival accepts submissions from filmmakers of all ages and levels of experience. There is a separate High School category.

Films nominated for awards will be shown at the Arena Grand Movie Theater.

* Friday, March 4, noon-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. high school students spotlight their films.

* Saturday, March 5, noon-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. international films will be screened.

* Sunday, March 6 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the winners and other celebrities will celebrate the awards.

Schwarzenegger will present “Arnie” trophies (from Joska Trophies) to winners. The prize package includes a Royalty-Free Video Library from Footage Firm and a one-year subscription to Video Blocks.

The Arnold Sports Festival is sponsored by the International Sports Hall of Fame.
