Fencing

The Arnold Fencing Classic 2017, now in its 14th year, will host 39 events on 27 strips March 3-5 at the Arnold Sports Festival. This event is an open competition for all ages and will feature all three Olympic weapons.

All events will be held at the Hyatt Regency: Franklin, Delaware, Union and Taft meeting rooms.

NEW EVENT! RJTC, Regional Junior and Cadet Circuit. A national qualifier for Cadets 17 and younger and Junior’s 19 and younger.

Regional Youth Circuit US Fencing Association National Championship qualifier for youth fencers 14 and younger. Regional Youth Circuit (RYC) events are restricted to US Fencers with current USFA membership. All other events are open to international competitors.

HEMA, Historical European Martial Arts, workshops and demonstrations will again be featured. NEW this year is a longsword and rapier tournament.

NEW! Referee Clinic with Abdel Abdelaziz. Thursday, March 2nd, Hyatt Regency at 4pm. Fee is $75 paid at the door. Abdelaziz is one of the most experienced referees in the United States. He obtained his FIE license in 1979 and has extensive international experience officiating numerous Cadet, Junior and Senior World Cups in addition to PanAm Championships in all three weapons. He is a constant fixture at all USA Fencing Nationals and NCAA events as well as working all major fencing events around the United States and Canada. All Fencers, Coaches, and Parents are welcome.

Columbus Rotary will be presenting a $2,500 College Scholarship to the top youth competitor in the Arnold Fencing Classic. Limited number of entry scholarships to assist financially burdened fencers. Restrictions apply.

TRY FENCING! AT THE ARNOLD! Visitors of any age to the Arnold SportsWorld Kids & Teens EXPO at the Ohio Expo Center can “Try Fencing!” for FREE. Equipment and instructions will be provided. The Arnold SportsWorld Kids & Teens EXPO will be held from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 5. Admission is included with the Daily EXPO Ticket.
