Medieval Fighting

The Arnold Medieval Fighting Invitational makes its debut at the Arnold Sports Festival in 2020.

This is an International event with teams attending from the USA, Canada and China. The event will be held Friday, March 6 from 2-5:30 p.m. on the floor at the Arnold Fitness EXPO at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.  Armored combatants, 80-100 in number, will compete in a 5 on 5 Buhurt (tournament) using 14th-16th century armor and weapons. The format is best of three, with timed rounds that are four or five minutes each or until all five opponents are down.

Prizes awarded include medals and championship team trophy.  Stars from the TV show Knight Fight will also be on hand and competing. They are: Paul Friedel, Micah Nelson, Charlie Brumfield, and Josuha Kenrney.

Buhurt Training in Soft Kits

There are 2 training sessions held at the Sheraton in the Legislative room on Saturday March 7th from 2-4 pm and 4-6 pm.  Registration is required with a $50 fee for those that wish to learn about buhurt and get introduced to the sport. Training will be conducted by Ilias Vyshutin, one of the top fighters in our sport from Ukraine, where he has consistently participated in the Battle of the Nations for the Ukrainian National team.  Training is free to all tournament athletes.
